The Lamb Center – Meeting Needs, Sharing Hope
By David Triana
We live in a most beautiful area of our nation and also one of the most generous and caring communities I’ve ever lived in.
I recently visited The Lamb Center in Fort Walton Beach and spent some time with its founder, Mr. Pete Peters, and several of his wonderful group of volunteers.
Mr. Peters has great experience in serving the community at large and has also led numerous missions to Cuba for many years.
Via The Lamb Center, him and his staff, along with their growing force of volunteers, they aim to help build a compassionate community that walks with individuals and families through seasons of need.
The Lamb Center is a community resource center serving individuals and families in need along Florida’s Emerald Coast.
MISSION: To provide essential resources and share the hope of Jesus those in need.
VISION: A community where individuals and families in need are met with dignity, practical care, and the hope of Jesus — one relationship at a time.
The center is located at 120 Perry Avenue in Fort Walton Beach and is located between the La Calle Food Court and Cornerstone Church.
At present, they are operating on Mondays and Thursday, 6:30am – 12:00pm serving unsheltered individuals and families in need by serving hot breakfast. They also serve individuals and families with food, clothing and personal hygiene item donations.
In the future, they plan to offer periodic distribution of food and essential household and personal care items to individuals and families facing difficult circumstances.
As part of their Community Support Services plans, they want to connect individuals with helpful resources, information, and encouragement.
The center is a 501c3 charitable organization and accepts monetary donations, as well as donations of food items, clothing, and in-kind donations.
We invite the Hispanic community to be part of this worthy cause by volunteering or helping them via donations and helping get the word out to Hispanics they know who are in need, so they can go get help at the Lamb Center.
