WASHINGTON, June 3, 2026 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — For many families, summer doesn’t mean vacation. It means one more worry: how to feed their children when they no longer have access to school meals.

With rising costs for food, gas, and other basic expenses, millions of parents across the country are struggling to put food on the table during the summer months. A nationwide survey by No Kid Hungry reveals that one in three parents fears their household may run out of food during the summer holidays.

That’s why No Kid Hungry , a national campaign dedicated to ending childhood hunger in the United States, has joined forces this summer with prominent Latino figures such as renowned chef, author, restaurateur, and television host Lorena Garcia ; actress, television host, and former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres ; Mexican actress, presenter, businesswoman, and marathon runner Alejandra Espinoza; Mexican presenter and actress Jacqueline Bracamontes; and actress, businesswoman, and content creator Ximena Duque to help connect families with free meals and food resources available this summer.

Parents and caregivers can visit NoKidHungry.org/Ayuda to find available help in their community, including free summer meals and food assistance programs for eligible families.

Families have access to programs that help children receive nutritious food during the summer months. A $120 stipend (Summer EBT or SUN Bucks) is available in 38 states, Washington, D.C., and five U.S. territories, including Puerto Rico and five tribal nations, helping eligible families purchase food for their children when school is out. In addition, communities across the country offer free summer meals through schools, parks, libraries, and community organizations. Flexible meal pickup or delivery options are also available in some rural areas to help reduce transportation barriers.

However, the challenge remains that many families are unaware these resources exist. Historically, 87% of children who receive free or reduced-price school meals do not have access to meals during the summer. Latino households with children are almost twice as likely to experience food insecurity as white households with children, making it even more critical to connect families with this available assistance.

● “Good nutrition is essential for children to stay active, healthy, and fully enjoy their summer. I know that for many families this season brings additional challenges, and that’s why I’m happy to support No Kid Hungry again to help connect more communities with important food resources,” Lorena Garcia

● No family should spend the summer worrying about how to feed their children. When school ends, many families face even greater pressure to cover something as basic as daily meals. That’s why I’m joining No Kid Hungry once again to help more parents learn about the resources available to feed their children during these months,” Dayanara Torres

● “Summer should be a season for creating family memories, not a time of stress and uncertainty. I’m excited to collaborate with No Kid Hungry to make a real difference for many families this summer,” Alejandra Espinoza

● “Sometimes, something as simple as sharing information can make a big difference in a family’s life. I am honored to support No Kid Hungry and join this campaign to raise awareness about available resources, and thus help more children have access to nutritious food this summer,” said Jacqueline Bracamontes

● “We know that when children are on vacation, many families face additional expenses, and feeding the whole family can become more difficult. That’s why it’s so important for communities to know that there is help available for children during the summer,” commented Ximena Duque.
