Ninth Annual Micro Theater Festival: Let’s continue celebrating Tallahassee Hispanic Theater’s 10th anniversary!

2026 is a very special year for Tallahassee Hispanic Theater, as we celebrate a decade of bringing Hispanic theater and culture to the heart of Florida’s capital. Ten years in which we have presented works by renowned playwrights and new voices from the Hispanic world, participated in numerous local and regional cultural events, and turned our Annual Micro Theater Festival into one of the summer’s most anticipated cultural events.

The celebration began last March with “A Night of Argentine Theater,” an evening dedicated to two extraordinary playwrights: Claudia Piñeiro, with Verona, and Griselda Gambaro, with Mother by Trade, two plays that explored the complexity of family relationships with humor and sensitivity.

Now, the party continues with the ninth edition of our Annual Micro Theater Festival, which is growing this year to offer even more opportunities to enjoy it. For the first time, the festival will extend to three days, featuring a Sunday matinee performance.

2026 is a very special year for Tallahassee Hispanic Theater, as we celebrate a decade of bringing Hispanic theater and culture to the heart of Florida’s capital.

As is tradition, the audience will be able to enjoy five short plays that reflect the richness and diversity of Hispanic theater. The lineup includes texts from Spain, Venezuela, and Costa Rica, some of which are being presented in English for the first time.

The festival will also once again feature the participation of the local group Theater with a Mission, which will present the fun and interactive play Juliet, the Bachelorette. Additionally, we will enjoy the premiere of the original play The Whole Night by local playwright Bert Mitchells.

The moving monologue From Mary to Mary, by renowned Spanish playwright Paloma Pedrero, can be enjoyed in both its original Spanish version and its English translation.

The lineup is completed by two promising contemporary voices in Hispanic theater: Venezuelan Tina Cottin, author of One More Game, and Costa Rican Rosa Céspedes Araya, with Cloud-Walker. Both plays will have their English premiere during the festival.

But Micro Theater is much more than a succession of plays; it is an authentic cultural celebration. In between plays, the audience can enjoy live music by Trío Siete Colinas, a local group led by Guatemalan artist Isabel Ruano, as well as a special performance by guitarist Charles Santiago.

And, because every great celebration deserves excellent gastronomy, attendees will be able to sample offerings from local restaurants Venebites and Le Point Bakery, which will have a delicious selection of food for sale throughout the event.

The micro-theater format turns every performance into a dynamic and social experience. In the spacious Carriage House at Goodwood, the audience can move freely between stages, enjoy different performances, mingle with family and friends, listen to music, and savor good food in a relaxed, festive atmosphere.

If you live in Tallahassee, this is the perfect opportunity to celebrate these ten years of history with us. And if you are from out of town, the festival is a magnificent excuse to discover Florida’s capital, tour the spectacular grounds of the Goodwood Museum and Gardens, and have a unique cultural experience.

We invite you to be a part of this great celebration and to continue building, alongside us, a space where Hispanic theater and culture can keep growing and enriching our community.

Tickets: General Admission $25, and Seniors $20
