On June 7, Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) and Feeding the Gulf Coast representatives teamed up to distribute hurricane meal kits to homebound residents in DeFuniak Springs. FPL, in partnership with Florida Council on Aging and Feeding the Gulf Coast, are distributing more than 150 hurricane preparedness kits to seniors in Walton County to ensure they have access to water and nutritious food for up to three days following a storm. Each of the meal kits, courtesy of FPL, contain water and a three-day supply of shelf-stable foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner should seniors be unable to leave their homes or receive home-delivered meals after a storm affects the area.
