Pensacola, Fla. – The Escambia County Public Schools Foundation received a generous donation from Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) in support of the Tools for Teachers supply warehouse. The announcement was made during the Pensacola Blue Wahoos’ Education Day; sponsored by FPL, the event brings together thousands of local students for an educational day at the game.
“The Escambia County Public Schools Foundation is so grateful for the partnership and support of Florida Power and Light Company,” said Jo McArthur Executive Director, Escambia County Public Schools Foundation. “Today’s generous donation is only a small part of the big difference FPL makes in Education in Escambia County and across the state. Because of their support, teachers will not have to go into their own pockets to purchase supplies for thousands of students across the county through our Tools for Teachers program.”
Tools for Teachers is an online Teacher Resource Store that provides FREE classroom materials for teachers and their students, helping to prevent teachers from spending their own money on much needed supplies. Funded through grants and donations like this, the store carries items such healthy snacks for students, bandaids, pencils, erasers, copy paper, glue sticks, ziplock bags, paper towels, tissues, dry erase markers and more. FPL’s $12,500 donation will provide free classroom supplies for hundreds of teachers.
“Support for the community, particularly educators, remains a fundamental component of our commitment to advancing education,” said J.T. Young, FPL vice president and general manager for Northwest Florida. “Our investment in teachers and our help with the provision of essential resources reflect our intention to prepare students with the necessary knowledge to achieve their objectives.”
FPL has proudly supported the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Education Days for the last four years, reinforcing its commitment to connecting learning opportunities with real-life experiences for students. Beyond this initiative, FPL offers other education grants such as the Classroom Makeover Grant and EmPOWERing STEM Grant programs. To learn more, visit FPL.com/Education
