April is for Spring & Salud

By Bohemian Babushka

HolaHolaHola Beautifuls!

April, Spring and Salud are al frente.  Especialmente since Abril has been named “National Minority Health Month”, and though better, the casos de COVID are still putting everyone at risk.  Why highlight minorities now?  Unfortunately our gente aren’t being diligent in their own care. Si, sometimes not speaking the language doesn’t  help, but you can sign up to help those you care for.  Sources are available in many languages, many platforms.

“The Office of Minority Health is dedicated to improving the health of racial and ethnic minority populations through the development of health policies and programs that will help eliminate health disparities.”

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the top 10 states with the largest Hispanic/Latino population are: New York, California, Illinois, Texas, Arizona, New Jersey, Colorado, Georgia, Florida, and New Mexico.  This ethnic group includes any person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race. According to the 2019 U.S. Census Bureau population estimate, there are 60.5 million Hispanics living in the United States. This group represents 18.4 percent of the U.S. total population.

And we’re growing and here to stay!!

Ahora, this being true, what’s also true is the necessity of taking care of ourselves.  To this end, the OMH wants, needs us to follow guidelines and become diligent for those around us and those we love. To those who think we’ve got this COVID thing all controlled and figured out, JU SO FONII!!  Precisely this sort of mentality will start the levels to rise again, y no podemos, we musn’t let that happen.

Por fa, join in the luchita contra COVID. It’s so necessary, a task force was established as part of a government effort to “identify and eliminate the health and social disparities that result in disproportionately higher rates of exposure, illness, hospitalization and death related to COVID-19.”

Help BB spread the word Beautifuls. Actually, there are many words. A campaign is starting  using the hashtags #BoostYourCommunity , #NMHM2022 y #PóngaseLaVacuna, #RefuerceSuProtección to show and share how we care. We can do this, We MUST do this.
