Children’s Heart Foundation Presents First Research Training Award for Underrepresented Minorities in Medicine

NORTHBROOK, Illinois , April 4, 2024 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — The Children’s Heart Foundation is proud to present the first Underrepresented Minorities in Medicine Research Training Award (URMRTA), an initiative intended to support the career development of underrepresented minorities in pediatric cardiology research on congenital heart defects (CHD).

The URMRTA reflects the Children’s Heart Foundation’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in healthcare and medical research, specifically pediatric cardiology research related to congenital heart defects. By addressing disparities and challenges faced by people from underrepresented minorities, we focus on cultivating a more diverse and representative healthcare workforce that provides equitable and accessible care to all communities.

The URMRTA will provide the awardee with financial assistance to enable them to advance their research efforts and excel in their chosen field. Eligible candidates must identify as a member of a minority group underrepresented in medicine: Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, American Indian or Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and other Pacific Islander.

Training Award Main Details:

A $10,000 scholarship will be awarded to a single recipient to support his or her medical research and professional development program.

Interested individuals may apply for the URMRTA by submitting the required application package, which includes a letter of interest and professional interests, research achievements to date, a career development plan, a summary of the research environment, a CV, and letters of recommendation. .
