Love brings profitability – Love within Companies

From whichever point of view, you may want to see it, personal or business, love brings profitability. Love sounds romantic, but profitability doesn’t… right? However, in this new era, they are closely related and most (if not all) want both.

Antonio Argandoña (Emeritus Professor of Economics and holder of the CaixaBank Chair of Corporate Social Responsibility at IESE (Spain) was asked: “Is a culture of love (non-eros, non-erotic) possible in a company? Yes, it is possible. In all human relationships the possibility of benevolent love arises, also in economic organizations.

Let’s see some examples where love brings profitability:

«The economy rewards with money, with profitability, the services that generate value. But to generate value you have to respond to someone’s need. A business is good not only when it is managed well, but also when it has a very good and differentiating value proposition. If you were more empathetic and loving, you would better understand what your consumers need and from there you could make better value propositions.”

A leader who GENUINELY CARES about what is important to each of his team members requires something greater than the desire to achieve a goal or meet the need to obtain results, he requires love. Love develops hand in hand with some virtues such as humility, empathy, gratitude, trust, patience, compassion… When these virtues lead you to build something good for the other, there is love, for which you are also allowing their virtues to develop; This reciprocity would result in greater commitment and productivity, making love profitable.

If you are not consistent with what is important to you (your values), you will be out of balance, generating discomfort and low-quality motivation, which leads to lower productivity and therefore decreases the use of your potential to generate the proposed results. The way to know what is important to you is through self-knowledge, knowing how to apply that knowledge efficiently for your well-being is linked to your self-love.

The commitment of each person is based on their optimal motivation. Three of the six factors that influence the latter, according to scientific studies carried out by Susan Fowler, are the quality of interpersonal relationships, values and purpose, the three concepts are related to the essence of people and where there is essence there is love.
