What’s your word for 2017?

By Peggy Brockman, Business Coach, Author & Speaker

Is this what your life looks like?  Are you someone who has piles in your office, sitting around on your tables?  Do you have twice as many clothes as you need or wear?  When was the last time you cleaned out your cabinets….your calendar….your email…your LIFE???

It is a new year and it signifies change for many.  It is when we set a long list of goals and things we want to accomplish.  In other words…we clutter up our minds with so many things we plan to accomplish, we just get overwhelmed and don’t focus on anything.

My mentor and leadership guru, John C. Maxwell, taught me to choose one word to focus on each year. If you take time to really think about it, THE word will come to you.  When you do that, it helps in your decision-making process.

As a business coach, I teach people to simplify and focus.  This year I have chosen DECLUTTER for my 2017 word.  With that word in focus, every time I start to do something I will ask myself if it is in alignment with my focus for the year.    By decluttering and simplifying everything, I will create room for things that are important to me.  I will be happier in my surroundings, be more productive by not wasting so much time looking for things, I will feel accomplished by knowing I did it. By making better choices and decluttering my schedule, I will achieve my financial goals in my business and create the time needed to do the things I want to do like completing my next book.

WHAT WILL YOUR WORD BE FOR 2017?  Sit with it a while today and CHOOSE.  Each and every day is a new beginning.  If we have screwed up in the past – IT IS THE PAST.  WE CAN’T CHANGE IT!  What we CAN change is the future.  Choosing one word to center your life around for an entire year is a great way of doing that.  Step up to the challenge.  Send me an email and let me know what your word is for the year.  I really want to know.  I am planning an accountability group for those who want to stay true to THEIR WORD for the year.  It will be fun!  Join us!!  Just send me that email to [email protected].  HAVE A PROSPEROUS 2017.
