TCC Spark! launches entrepreneurship events at Center for Innovation

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (May 25, 2017) –Tallahassee Community College’s Center for Innovation will host two monthly entrepreneurship series as part of the TCC Spark! initiative.
The Speed Mentoring series will give participants an opportunity to meet with local business leaders and ask a mentor for advice. The series begins Tuesday, June 13, at 6 p.m., and will recur at the same time on the second Tuesday of each following month.
Participants will have one minute to introduce themselves and explain the area of business in which they need help, after which the mentors will introduce themselves and discuss the specific ways in which they can assist attendees. The mentors and participants will then meet and rotate through three five-minute Speed Mentoring sessions, with the goal of sparking trust and long-term business relationships.
The one-hour Speed Mentoring events are free and open to the public. Seating is limited, and participants should register in advance at sparkmentoring.eventbrite.com.
The Entrepreneurs’ Forum series allows mentors to share their stories of starting their businesses, overcoming obstacles and becoming successful in their fields, with the aim of helping attendees succeed themselves. The monthly series begins Tuesday, June 20, at 6 p.m.
The first Entrepreneurs’ Forum will be a panel discussion focusing on making Tallahassee a stronger entrepreneurial community. Panelists include Keith Bowers, regional director of the Small Business Development Center at Florida A & M University; Steve Dunnivant, TCC dean of business, industry and technology; Lucas Lindsey, executive director of Domi Station; John Medina, senior vice president and chief experience officer of First Commerce Credit Union; Steve Millaway, founder and CEO of TechFarms, LLC; Ron Miller, executive director of the Leon County R & D Authority; and Wendy Plant, director of the Center for Student Engagement in Florida State University’s Jim Moran School of Entrepreneurship.
The Entrepreneurs’ Forum events are also free and open to those who register in advance at sparkforum.eventbrite.com.
