Supervisor of Elections Reminds Voters of Important Primary Election Information

July 9, 2024 – This year there are four (4) Universal Primary Contests—Sheriff, Board of County Commissioners District 1, District 3, and District 5. These races are open to all voters regardless of party affiliation. There is no run-off for these races either; whoever receives the highest number of votes will win on August 20th. There is also one (1) School Board race this year. We elect both our School Board and County Commissioners “at-large,” so all voters vote for all members regardless of the district in which you live.

While there is a ballot style for every voter—Republican, Democrat, or minor/no party—not everyone will see all the same races. There are several closed primary races: one (1) US Senator race – both Republican and Democrat – and one (1) US Representative in Congress race as well as others. There is also a special municipal race in the City of Mary Esther for City Council. Please make careful note of those. To see your exact sample ballot, please use the voter lookup tool on our website, www.voteokaloosa.gov.

Some important dates to remember:

  • July 22nd– The last day to register to vote or change your party affiliation.
  • August 8th– The last day to request a Vote by Mail ballot.
  • August 10th-17th; 10am-6pm- Early Voting
  • August 20th; 7am-7pm- Election Day

If you have any questions, please visit our website at www.voteokaloosa.gov, call us, or feel free to e-mail Paul Lux at [email protected] any time.
