BOONE, NC , July 6, 2024 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Samaritan’s Purse has sent its third emergency relief flight to the Caribbean in less than a week. This time, we are bringing supplies to Jamaica as the island recovers from the destruction from Hurricane Beryl. Today’s flight on the organization’s DC-8 aircraft carries essential materials such as tarps and hygiene kits that are crucial for families recovering after the storm. Additionally, expert members of our Disaster Assistance Response Teams (DART) will begin, upon arrival, distributing critical cargo to where it is most needed.

Since Tuesday, Samaritan’s Purse has also sent two more flights carrying a mobile emergency hospital for use on Carriacou Island in Grenada, along with rolls of tarp, solar lamps and desalination units to provide drinking water.

“It hurts the heart to see the destruction in the Caribbean caused by Hurricane Beryl,” said Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan’s Purse. “My prayer is that our mobile emergency hospital, DART members, and the supplies we are sending will be a blessing to those who are suffering, and remind them that God loves them and has not forgotten them.”

Samaritan’s Purse now operates in three Caribbean islands and nations: Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Jamaica. The ongoing response utilizes more than 100,000 pounds of aid that will provide shelter, clean water and medical care. This effort is carried out by 50 Samaritan’s Purse staff in coordination with local churches in the Caribbean.
