Relay for Life Sponsorship

By Jean M. Grieve

Support for the Relay for Life Events in the form of Sponsorship makes our event possible.  Simply put, without our sponsors, our Relay for Life Events would not take place, nor would we survive.  The American Cancer Society Relay for Life represents the hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported and that one day, cancer will be eliminated. Many companies get involved for personal reasons; they have a personal connection with cancer – whether it is a family member, loved one, or employee, who is battling cancer, or they have lost to cancer, or they may be a Survivor themselves.  It’s also an opportunity for them to show their commitment to our cause and rally the community behind that cause.

Leading by example is an incredible way to get the community behind this endeavor and lead the charge in the fight against cancer.  Many of the companies, businesses, vendors and individuals don’t care about the notoriety or seeing their name in lights.  A simple “thank you” and a hug is all that is necessary in many cases.  But, for those that are looking for more in terms of recognition, the perks are certainly there.  In fact, my husband and I have been sponsors for the past four years under the auspices of Paradise Norté.  It’s a cause that is near and dear to our hearts since we have family members we have lost to this dreadful disease as well as survivors!  I happen to be a survivor and am very grateful for what the American Cancer Society (ACS) does.  The ACS always promotes positive exposure for its sponsors.  One of the new things we are doing this year is having a Sponsor Lap during the opening ceremonies so people can see how much our Sponsors do matter to us, and how much the Relay for Life cause matters to them.

The dollars we raise through sponsorship are well spent.  They go towards Research, Education, Advocacy, and Services.  Every dollar raised DOES count and DOES matter in the fight against cancer.  If you are interested in being a sponsor, feel free to contact Jean Grieve at [email protected], 850-240-4300 for more information.
