Isabela Perez wins at ACT-SO Competition

Isabela Perez recently participated in the Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO). ACT-SO includes 32 competitions in STEM, humanities, business, performing, visual and culinary arts.

Isabela recently finished 10th grade at Northwest Florida Collegiate High School.

The competition was held on April 29th of this year at Northwest Florida State College and she was declared the winner in the Vocal Classical Category with a rendition of “Porgi Amor Qualche Ristoro”, a Mozart composition.

Art Blakey, ACT-SO Director for the Okaloosa County Branch #5633, presented the awards to all the winners.  The national competition will take place in Baltimore, Maryland from July 20-23, 2017.

Conexión invites the community to support the 7th Annual ACT-SO Banquet & Showcase.  It will take place on Saturday, June 17th, 6pm, at Northwest Florida State College, 100 College Boulevard in Niceville, Florida.  The banquet is organized by the NAACP’s Okaloosa County Branch #5633 and part of the proceeds go towards helping the kids going to nationals with the related expenses.  The banquet is a Coat & Tie affair, $25 donation.
