Hispanicize 2016

By Bohemian Babushka

HolaHolaHola Beautifuls! A few years ago there was a song that said ♫ “Todo el mundo, con la lengua afuera!” ♫ Babushka believes this should be the theme song for Hispanicize.  Seriously.  Cinco días, 5 whole days of nonstop networking, charlas, sponsors, social media soirees and fiestas. For those of you who didn’t read last month’s article, Hispanicize is: “the iconic, largest annual event for Latino trendsetters and newsmakers in digital content creation, journalism,

marketing, entertainment and tech entrepreneurship. The Hispanicize event is a launch pad for creative endeavors, new products, technologies, marketing campaigns, films, books and more targeting Latinos in the U.S. and/or Puerto Rico.”

Hispanicize did all this y mas.  As in prior years, this year had a lot schmooze and shares, with big name sponsorships and attendance up (appx 2600) and more than two billion combined media and social media impressions. Beautifuls, that’s a lot of Tweety y Feibu!! Pero what most impressed BB this year was the hashtag used- #PowerInUnity.  As Hispanicize founder Manny Ruiz stressed, in an election year where our voices were being touted as “less than” we have to band together and show how Hispanos are “more than” they ever gave us credit for.  This year was a marked difference in tone for Hispanicize. Town halls, social good, and workshops for careers as well as stressing the need to cultivate personal wealth, these were on the agenda in Hispz16.

To give us the tools to be a stronger group, where our voices could turn into palanca, because our numbers are great, and so should be, would be, will be our poder.

And our power, our presence, esta donde quiera Beautifuls; we are all over! From entertainment with talents like Rosario Dawson, winner of this year’s Latinovator award, to the numerous winners of the TECLA awards (one being His Holiness, El Papa the Pontiff) where our star communicators in various arenas shine. También our power for social good y el futuro was represented by the nominees and winners of the Positive Impact Awards. Y hablando del futúro, los jóvenes, the Mighty Millennials, were definitely represented in the event, both in música as well as entrepreneurship, making Babushka very proud and eager to see what mañana brings.

So si Beautifuls, this is just the tip of what goes on at Hispanicize, and although Babushka is still recovering from Hispanicize 2016, BB not plan on going again?
