Hands of Stone – Manos de Piedra
By David Triana
Are you ready to watch a great film? I highly recommend you go watch Hands of Stone. The movie was released on August 26 on a limited release basis in only 800 theaters and I consider that a shame. Reviews by film critics have been mostly positive, but its limited release may not allow for many people to watch it while it is in theaters.
Hands of Stone is directed and written by Jonathan Jakubowicz, and based on a book by Christian Giudice. It is based on the life of Roberto “Mano de Piedra” Durán, the great Panamanian champion who handed Sugar Ray Leonard his first ever defeat in an epic fight.
It stars Édgar Ramírez, Robert De Niro, Usher, Ruben Blades, Ellen Barkin, Ana de Armas, Oscar Jaenada, and John Turturro.
I encourage everyone to watch it because it is a wonderful movie, but, also encourage Hispanics to go out to the theater to check it out because in order for more Hispanic themed movies to be made they must have commercial success!
