When is the last time you intentionally said THANK YOU to one of your employees, your family members, your friends…and really meant it?  The attitude of gratitude can be the most important and life-changing attitude you acquire.  With November being a month of Thanksgiving, let’s take a moment to really look at what we do to let the people around us know they are valued.

It is easy to get so caught up in the day to day tasks that we simply forget to really let people know we value them.  It’s been said that gratitude turns what we have into “enough”.  Statistics in a workplace study show that almost 70% of employees said they would work harder if they knew they were appreciated and almost 80% said that being recognized for their efforts motivates them.  With those kinds of statistics why on earth would we not take the time to let our employees know they are appreciated?  Do we just get so caught up in our own world we forget?  Do we get so caught up in business that we forget the importance of people? Unfortunately the answer is yes all too often.

Here is a simple triad method to help you think about how to show appreciation for your employees and those around you.  Ask yourself three things each day/week:

  1. SEEN – What have you SEEN or observed about that employee you can reward or express your appreciation for?
  2. HEARD – What have you HEARD from others – clients, other employees, customers, etc. – that you can acknowledge?
  3. FELT – What is a positive feeling you FELT about that employee you can share that would let them know they matter?

Gratitude and generosity are intentional attitudes.  Are you living intentionally?  John Maxwell recently released his newest book “Intentional Living”.  You can join with me to form a community of people who want to live intentionally.  For only $39 you get a copy of his book and a 30 Day Journey of Intentional Living program featuring a daily intentional living video and activity.  John has a goal of collecting over a million stories of intentional living from people around the world.  It is such a powerful program. I have set a personal goal to get a minimum of 500 people in the next 90 days to join the journey to intentional living, generosity and appreciation.  You can visit my website to sign up www.peggybrockman.com.  Just click on the picture of the Intentional Living book and it will take you to the sign up page.  If you don’t feel you can commit to 30 days, there is a free 7 day experiment you can participate in as well.  In addition, we will be facilitating calls for those who join the journey and want to share their stories of intentional living through generosity and appreciation.  It’s the small things we do in life and business that make a world of difference.

On December 3rd from 1-2:30, as my way of living intentionally and giving back to the community, I am launching Mastermind Emerald Coast, a free monthly gathering of the most generous, referable people and businesses on the Emerald Coast.  There will be training on networking, leadership and social media at each meeting along with a panel discussion on a hot topic but most importantly, each month will feature a different charity that all can support in some small way.  If you would like to be notified of the launch, shoot me an email to [email protected] with MMEC in the subject line and let me know you are interested or text your name and email address to 850-259-8356.

Let’s do this together.  Let’s start a movement of generosity, gratitude and intentional living.
