The organizations mission is to link the church of the First World with the church of the Third World in a manner that helps both the materially poor and the poor in spirit.

Food For The Poor began in 1982 in Jamaica and it is one of the largest international relief and development organizations in the United States

Their work is motivated by their faith in God, spreading His unconditional love, regardless of race, wealth, or creed as they minister to those in desperate need in primarily 17 countries throughout the Caribbean and Latin America.

By providing lifesaving food, secure housing, clean water, healthcare, emergency relief, micro-enterprise projects and education opportunities, they give those in extreme poverty a chance at a better future, and showing them God’s love.

The materially poor are served by local churches, clergy and lay leaders who have been empowered and supplied with goods by Food For The Poor.

To date, they have helped feed millions of people and provided more than 15.7 billion dollars in aid.

As stated in their website, their faith inspires them to be an an organization built on compassion, and motivated by love. They strive to reflect God’s unconditional love. A sacrificial love that embraces all people regardless of race or religion. They believe that they can show His love by serving the “least of these” on this earth as Christ challenged His people to in Matthew 25.
