Entrepreneurship titan Rowe to spark local business culture in talk

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (September 5, 2017) – Tallahassee Community College is bringing an internationally lauded entrepreneurship guru to town to inspire the continuing development of an entrepreneurial culture in the Big Bend region.

Tim Rowe, founder and CEO of Cambridge Innovation Center, will present “Building Tallahassee’s Entrepreneurial Ecosystem” on Wednesday, September 20, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at TCC’s Center for Innovation. Rowe will discuss best practices and next steps to establish Tallahassee as an entrepreneurial powerhouse.

“Tim is the architect of the largest business incubator system in the world,” said Rick Paul, program coordinator for TCC Spark, the College’s entrepreneurship initiative. “Tallahassee has all the ingredients needed to become a nationally known and respected entrepreneurial community, and his insights will be crucial as we advance in our local development.”

Tickets are $20 for general admission and $10 for students. Interested individuals may purchase tickets at https://timrowe.eventbrite.com. Seating is limited.

Rowe’s Cambridge Innovation Center houses over 1,400 companies across five cities and two continents. Approximately $7.2 billion of venture capital is headquartered in CIC’s original Cambridge, Massachusetts, location alone.

Rowe has served as a lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management, a manager with the Boston Consulting Group and an analyst with the Mitsubishi Research Institute.

The TCC Spark initiative is sponsored by a grant from First Commerce Credit Union, a full-service financial institution with locations throughout North Florida and South Georgia. Additional sponsors for this event include Florida State University’s Jim Moran School of Entrepreneurship, the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce and Junior Achievement of the Big Bend.

TCC’s Center for Innovation is located at 300 West Pensacola Street in downtown Tallahassee.
