“I open my mouth with wisdom. The law of kindness is on my tongue”; this is the ending line of Day 16th’s affirmation from this incredible paper back. This small yet powerful book will take you through a spiritual journey towards self-improvement. Writer, bible teacher and Certified behavior consultant Deborah Pegues has written a fantastic book titled 30 Days to Taming your Tongue. I can share with you that this one sits on my top 10 best read list from the hundreds of books that I have really enjoyed. It includes within its pages a powerful program made up of 30 days of verbal abstinence from anything negative. It is a 30-day devotional intended to help you improve the way in which you communicate with and express yourself to others. Which one of us has never struggled with the “Slipping of the Tongue”? How often do you find yourself saying the wrong thing at the wrong time? We have probably all been guilty of this Well, words are truly powerful. The following is a quote found inside the book:

The power of words:

A careless word may kindle strife;

A cruel word may wreck a life

A bitter word may hate instill;

A brutal word may smite and kill

A gracious word may smooth the way;

A joyous word may light the day

A timely word may lessen stress:

A loving word may heal and bless- Author Unknown page 131.

We often forget that words have a major impact in all our relationships and interactions. If we are not careful with our communication, problems and conflicts may arise not only in our personal but also in our professional relationships. The truth is that once spoken, words do not come back. Many of us have not yet realized the power of the words that come out of our mouth. Words have many effects; the wrong words could destroy while the right words can lift us up. The wrong words can sever yearlong friendships, and damage the closest of relationships.

Throughout the pages of this book, Deborah Pegues incorporates many Bible quotes to illuminate the meaning of her messages. The chapters are organized by the type of sins that the tongue can be guilty of. Some sections are outlined here:

“The self-deprecating tongue” ,“The complaining tongue”,” The hasty tongue” “The lying tongue (deceitful less, half-truths, exaggerations and flattery)”, “The meddling tongue” ,“The cynical tongue” ,“The argumentative tongue”, “The judgmental tongue”, “ The divisive tongue” and many additional ones. The ones listed here are just a few of what is presented in her work.

It is a very insightful l little book filled with plenty of wisdom that can really change the way in which you express and conduct yourself to the people around you.

Take the 30-day challenge; you will not be disappointed! I think you will enjoy this journey as much as I have; it can transform your life in a major way.
