The organization was founded in 1988 by a group of dedicated parents, physicians and friends with a mission to improving the treatment, quality of life and the long-term outlook for children and families affected by a brain or spinal cord tumor.

The organization provides fund to research a cure, as well as education and advocacy while supporting families from the day of diagnosis and throughout the brain tumor journey.

There are currently over 26,000 adolescents and young adults living with a brain tumor in the United States! Without a connection to CBTF, families often go through their journey without meeting another similar family.

CBTF’s programs include: online support and retreats, arts and creative programming, mentor program, and in person programming.

The organization believes in the importance of collaborating with other organizations that share their commitment to serve children and families impacted by a brain or spinal cord diagnosis and has partnerships with entities such as: Kids Helping Kids Inc. Camp Mak-A-Dream, Jena’s Rainbow Foundation, and the New York Life Foundation.

Grace Fulcher was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2015 and passed away on October 24, 2018 after a three-year battle. Despite the everyday challenges, treatments, and chemotherapy, Grace graduated Summa Cum Laude from Niceville High School and she also played violin with the Sinfonia Gulf Coast Youth Orchestra for over two years. In her honor, Grace’s parents created a scholarship with CBTF to help other brain tumor survivors reach their educational goals and with Sinfonia Gulf Coast Youth Orchestra to help other young musicians reach theirs. This first ever race will raise funds to support the two scholarships!
