Okaloosa DEC-C Presents Family Field Day

The Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County (DOH-Okaloosa) is excited to announce Family Field Day at Chester Pruitt Park on Saturday, November 19^th. The event will be from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The event is FREE and open to the public. Family Field Day is hosted by the Okaloosa County Alliance for Drug Endangered Children and Communities (DEC-C) group.

There will be many exciting things happening at the event including: FREE raffle prizes; Kickball and tee ball games; A play area for young children under age 2; FREE tablets with Vroom app for the first 50 families; FREE snow cones, hotdogs, and popcorn.

Family Engagement Month is a great time to celebrate the important role parents and families play in their children’s wellbeing. DOH-Okaloosa encourages residents to join us at Family Field Day. Attendees will celebrate Family Engagement Month and learn more about how you can help drug endangered children in Okaloosa County.

What is DEC-C? The Okaloosa County Alliance for Drug Endangered Children and Communities (DEC-C) is part of the National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children (National DEC). DEC-C exists to build awareness, provide trainings and programs, and offer tools to help make a difference in the lives of children, families, and communities. In Okaloosa County, DEC-C is part of the OCHIP Healthy Children group.

What is OCHIP? OCHIP is the Okaloosa County Health Improvement Partnership. We are mobilizing for a healthier Okaloosa! The group’s goal is to foster an Okaloosa that is safe, informed, nurturing, diverse, tolerant, and has access to quality healthcare. OCHIP is made up of passionate community members and leaders working together to address health issues. This includes improving the walkability of our community, increasing mental health services for students, and helping parents raise healthier babies. Currently, there are four OCHIP Groups: Healthy Behaviors, Healthy Children, Healthy Communities, and Healthy Moms and Babies.
