NEW YORK, Sept. 20, 2022 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — The Colgate-Palmolive company is now accepting applications for Haz La U, its annual educational scholarship, an initiative created in partnership with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) that offers scholarships to support Hispanic youth on their path to higher education and create a better future. Haz La U de Colgate will award 31 scholarships totaling $100,000 to Hispanic high school students who have demonstrated academic excellence and have been active members of their community. The application process for the 2023-2024 academic year will close on November 13, 2022.

To date, the Haz La U program has awarded more than $900,000 in scholarships to more than 400 Hispanic high school seniors in the United States who have demonstrated academic excellence, volunteerism, and leadership in their communities.

Colgate is proud to highlight Jennifer Muñoz, a 2016 Haz la U scholarship recipient, 2020 UCLA graduate, and now working as a Mobile Technology Analyst in the logistics industry, managing time-critical shipments. Jennifer mentions, “Haz La U not only helped me financially, it also helped motivate me because it showed that someone else believed in me.” Jennifer’s story of growing up in a low-income community in Fontana, California, and the impact Haz La U had in helping her achieve her dream of a college education is featured in a new short film created by Colgate in partnership with HHF.

“At Colgate, we believe that everyone deserves a future that makes them smile, which is why we are proud of our continued partnership with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation and the impact this program has had on scholarship recipients and their communities.” said Jesper Nordengaard, president of Colgate-Palmolive, North America. “We look forward to continuing to support deserving students like Jennifer Muñoz, one of the 2016 Haz La U winners.”

For more than 10 years, Colgate has worked with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation to award Haz La U scholarships through the Youth Awards, its annual youth awards. “We are very proud to continue our partnership with Colgate for the Haz La U scholarship, which brings our students closer to achieving their higher education goals,” said Antonio Tijerino, president and CEO, Hispanic Heritage Foundation. “This important effort with Colgate through our Youth Awards program will showcase the tremendous talent and potential of our youth. These scholarships will help young leaders stay focused on making an impact in our community and in America,” he added.

At the regional level, the Haz La U scholarship program will award 10 Gold level scholarships of $4,000 each, 10 Silver level scholarships of $3,000 each, and 10 Bronze level scholarships of $2,000 each. A regional winner will receive an additional national level scholarship of $10,000.
