One Hopeful Place Committee – “GIVING HOPE”

By Paul and Donna Montalvo

It’s been an exciting and challenging journey that the One Hopeful Place (OHP) Fundraiser Committee members have been on since January! However, we are happy to say that the train is now pulling into one of its important stops. As co-chairs of the 2017 OHP Fundraiser Committee, we have been able to assemble dedicated committee members to raise funds for Phase 2 of OHP. Phase 2 is a 3,877 sq. ft., multi-bed facility with a central commercial kitchen. The facility will also provide for cold night shelter for those in need.

The committee members include: Mark Hamrick (The Vacuum Center), Tracy McCreary (Southern Star Printing), Diane Keller (Endless Horizons Realty), and Beth Ostroff (Jobs4U). This committee has put in motion several fundraising events and is reaching out to OUR COMMUNITY to assist, sponsor, support, participate, and/or volunteer in these fundraising endeavors. Businesses are invited to take part in the Business Opportunity Fundraiser, which runs from July through December. It is easy to participate, just select a campaign option, contact the FWB Chamber, and sign up. The campaigns include:

Campaign #1 – 1 or 2 days campaign – predetermined % or all proceeds to OHP
Campaign #2 – 1 or 2 weeks campaign – predetermined % or all proceeds to OHP
Campaign #3 – 1 month or longer campaign – predetermined % or all proceeds to OHP
Campaign #4 – Round-Up – customers round up their sale amount to the next dollar amount. Business committed to donating round-up amount to OHP

Another option is joining the “Can It!” campaign where businesses or organizations can display their “OHP Donation Can” within their locales or offices. All donations collected go to OHP.

We thank those that have already conducted events and those business owners who have established dates for their fundraisers. They include:

Diane Keller—Endless Horizons Realty – Kiwanis Charity 5K – Saturday, July 15, 2017
David Triana—Conexion Media Group – Hispanic Heritage Month Kick-Off – Latin Flavored
Fundraiser, Fri., September 15, 2017
David Presnell—Painting With A Twist – Thursday, October 12, 2017
Heather Ruiz—Destin Commons Hoops for Hope – November 4, 2017

In staying with the idea of GIVING, the OHP committee will be GIVING free promotional benefits to those that participate. Please help us make OHP a reality so our community can continue to serve those in need. For more information, you may contact OHP Executive Director Nathan Monk at (850) 454-9910, the FWB Chamber of Commerce at (850) 244-8191, or Paul Montalvo at Professional Computer Training & Service at (850) 865-2808 or Donna Montalvo Perfect Imprints at (610) 235-1496.

As the saying goes, “Build it and they will come!” Our committee has laid the foundation now. We just need businesses, individuals, and volunteers to help. Thank you for all your support!
