“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, Coming down upon the beard, Even Aaron’s beard, Coming down upon the edge of his robes. It is like the dew of Hermon Coming down upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing—life forever. – Psalm 133:1-3
On June 28th at the Fort Walton Beach Landing, we witnessed a gathering of multiple races and backgrounds across denominational lines to celebrate the common union we share under the headship and Lordship of Jesus Christ. It was a beautiful portrait of what unity looks like in a climate of such hatred and division. This witness of Christ’s love is what is necessary in a time such as this. Without it the witness of Christ coming and accomplishing the mission of His love is lost and we have failed in our mission to show the world the difference of a life renewed in Him.
It is the hope of many bible believing leaders in our community whether black, white, Hispanic, Asian, etc. that we learn to place under the blood of Jesus the distinctions that divide us so that in our unity we use those distinctions to supply each other with the beauty of uniqueness as it completes the harmonious sound of sincere love for one another.
We were honored to have linked arm in arm the young people of our community who are seeking to make a difference where others have only ever talked about it. The “We Push Back FWB” group were instrumental in collecting school supplies and food for those in need within our community. They seized the opportunity to provide an example of what real change looks like as common people take up the responsibility of caring for the need of others. These young adults have sounded the alarm to the injustices that plague society but have followed up in the practice of human decency and kindness.
We want to give out a huge THANK YOU to all individuals and businesses who supported this event in their time, service and money. It was once again a beautiful display of community unity in serving the needs of others.
It will certainly not be the last of its kind of public gathering and we hope that in future events we will see more of you who believe in the ministry and mission of God’s love made complete in Christ become more evident by our corporate demonstration. Together we push back the tide of hate and overcome evil with good.
