TOGETHER….We make a bigger impact!

TOGETHER….We make a bigger impact!

By David Triana, President, Conexión Media Group

I recently read an editorial from Ted Corcoran, CEO of the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce.  In it, he published the text from a speech that spoke about the great importance of networking and the relationships we build.  This is something that I have believed in for as long as I can remember, but, in the 13 years since I arrived in this area, I have definitely seen it at work by being an active member of the FWB Chamber and the community at large.

The network I have been fortunate to establish has been instrumental to the enterprises I’m directly involved in.  I can unequivocally say that the network and the relationships that we build are key to our business, our careers, and even more importantly, our life in general!

I congratulate everyone that is conducting donation drives or fundraisers for the victims of the Hurricanes in Puerto Rico, South Florida, Houston and the surrounding area, and the terrible earthquake in Mexico.  The power of the network is clearly at work as grassroots efforts such as this take shape and it was great to see how people like Pastor Perdomo and Pastor Noemi and their churches, or leaders like Jose Garcia and Pedro Caraballo of Northwest Florida for Puerto Rico joined efforts with Frost Jones of Hands and Hearts United to put together projects to help those suffering as a result of the recent Hurricanes.

Conexion Media Group is proud to be helping as much as we can with those efforts by helping them spread the word via our Social Media sites and our publication.

Hispanic Heritage Month will almost be over by the time you read this.  Conexion has made sure the Emerald Coast celebrated this important observation period.  We started the month with your Hispanic Heritage Month Kick-Off, attended by a cross section of the community and help raise $1,320.00 for One Hopeful Place, the City of FWB’s Homeless Shelter.  It was a great event, see pictures in this edition.

On October 15th, we will close out the observance with our “FIESTA @ THE PARK”, which will take place for the first time and hopes to help “Put the UNITY back into CommUNITY” by getting people together in a fun environment that welcomes everyone.  TOGETHER…we will raise funds for two great organizations!  Details in our cover page.

The network is key to all that Conexion is about and we hope all Hispanic businesses and organizations understand that message.  Join a chamber, be active, participate in the activities of your community, not just the Hispanic activities, your community is more than just us.  Help the homeless, visit the elderly, raise funds for good causes, let your business be known as one that is generous and cares about more than just “making a buck.”  I can assure you, that network you establish and the generosity you display by doing such things, will “come back to you” in more ways that you can imagine!

We hope you had a great Hispanic Heritage Month and remember, when it comes to CommUNITY, TOGETHER…. Hispanic and Non-Hispanic, we make a BIGGER IMPACT!
