Tallahassee is a hub of arts and culture, which is one of the area’s most cherished assets. Building upon this thriving sector of the community, the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is seeking applications for ideas that will further enhance the arts, culture and heritage in Tallahassee. $3,000,000 in Tourist Development Tax (TDT) dollars is available to fund applications that accomplish this goal. Proposals must be submitted by public entities or non-profit organizations and meet certain guidelines, which includes being located in either the Greater Frenchtown/Southside or Downtown CRA District. Projects or programs proposed in the expansion area for the Greater Frenchtown/Southside area will also be considered.
All applications must meet Chapter 125 Florida Statute requirements for the expenditure of TDT funds, as described below:
Further local economic development and/or help market the culture and arts in our area
Educate the public about the arts, culture or heritage of our community
Generate a self-sustaining level of operational revenue
Applications will be reviewed and scored based on a competitive process with the highest scored applications being funded. The reviewing entities reserve the right to allocate those funds in the manner that best meets the stated program criteria.
For those interested in applying for TDT funding, two mandatory workshops will be held. Attendance at one of the workshops is required to submit an application. The first begins at 2 p.m. on April 6; the second begins at 6 p.m. on May 3. The workshops will cover both application and program guidelines.
