Relay for Life

Fort Walton Beach Relay for Life is an annual overnight event hosted by the American Cancer Society located at the Choctaw High School. The local event is designed to bring thousands of people to stand together against the disease of cancer. The event will be held on April 29th and April 30th and lasting twelve hours (6PM until 6AM in the morning).
Volunteers and participants join the Fort Walton Beach Relay event to celebrate those who have fought and won against cancer and to remember those who are no longer with us.
Team participants and team volunteers have increased community support and individual awareness making the one night event a continued success. Fort Walton Beach Relay for Life teams plan fun activities each month to help others join the cause and succeed at meeting their team charity goals.
The night of Fort Walton Beach Relay for Life event is the largest fundraising activity of the year for the Relay teams and it is projected that the program will raise over $175.000. During the event, teams will either walk or run laps around a track to symbolize how cancer never sleeps. Each lap is different and gives each relay team the opportunity to earn spirit points for their enthusiasm and participation. The event welcomes all ages to participant and has several food vendors, arts and crafts, and novelties to buy with proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society. The most heart-felt moment of the night is called the Luminaria Ceremony. This is when the entire event of Fort Walton Beach Relay gives honor to cancer survivors and to the lives lost to the disease. In this moment, lives are touched and the community rallies together to bring HOPE for a cure.
