Lieutenants Camilo and Monica Rojas

Lt. Camilo Rojas was born in Bogota, Colombia in 1981. He grew up in a Christian environment surrounded by church activities, his parents have been pastors form the Church of God for 40 years. Years later, in the mid-90s, in Colombia the opposition groups (guerrillas) determined that Christians were their enemies.

In 2002, to protect their life from physical harm, Lt. Camilo and his family had to leave Colombia to seek political asylum in the United States.  In 2005, their political asylum case was approved. Through all this process, God showed Lt. Camilo that He has great plans for him in this country, so Lt. Camilo consecrated his life to serve God.

During this time, Camilo was introduced into The Salvation Army in Miami FL. In 2008, He met his wife Monica.

Lt. Monica Rojas was born in Bogota, Colombia. Her family moved   to the Unites States after her father received a proposal to work in this country in the field of architecture. When she was 11, she and her family became Christians, and since that moment, she has been involved in different ministries in the church. Lt. Monica and Camilo have been married 7 years. She learned about The Salvation Army thru Camilo, and from the first time that she visited The Salvation Army, she fell deeply in love with all the work and ministry that involves this amazing Christian organization.

Lieutenants Rojas received the call to be officers of The Salvation Army in the year 2012. In 2013 they were accepted into the Salvation Army training school for officers Evangeline Booth College.  Last year on June 7, Lt. Camilo and Monica were commissioned as Salvation Army officers, and appointed as Corps Officers for Okaloosa and Walton counties based in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.  They have been working really hard to continue helping those in need in our community, and to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They are excited and looking forward to see what God has in store for them in this beautiful community.
