Having made a career of seducing rich older women, Maximo (Eugenio Derbez) marries a wealthy woman more than twice his age. 25 years later, spoiled and bored from waking up next to his now 80-year-old wife—he gets the surprise of his life when she ends up dumping him for a younger car salesman. Forced out of his mansion and desperate for a place to stay, he must move in with his estranged sister, Sara, (Salma Hayek) and her nerdy but adorable son, Hugo (Raphael Alejandro) in their small apartment. Anxious to return to the lap of luxury, Maximo uses his nephew’s crush on a classmate to get to his new target—her grandmother, Celeste (Raquel Welch), a widowed billionaire.

As Maximo tries to rekindle his powers as a Latin lover, he finds himself bonding with his nephew Hugo, and he begins to learn that being a Latin lover means that loving money isn’t as important as the love of your family.

How to Be a Latin Lover will be released on April 28, 2017 by Lionsgate’s Pantelion Films[7] in the US and on May 5, 2017 in Mexico by Videocine.

RECEIVING STAR ARTICLE:  10 MARCH 2016 EVENT

INVITED HIS JANITOR TO SPEAK at his Hollywood Walk of Fame induction ceremony.  Usually, entertainers close to the honouree are usually picked to give a speech praising the newest inductee.  But, instead of choosing a popular actor to join him on his big day, he chose Guatemalan Joel Villagran, the maintenance manager who works at his new apartment building in LA.

“They asked me to bring a huge star but I thought that it was more representative for me and my career to bring one of my people,” Eugenio told the crowd on Hollywood Boulevard.

Proud Joel took the stage and gushed over the actor, saying, “I don’t know why he asked me and not Brad Pitt, but I am very honoured… In the name of all Latinos in this country, congratulations. You earned your Hollywood star. I wish you much success in the future, because when you have success, we all have success. You are one of us. Te quiero mucho (I love you very much).”

Eugenio’s co-star from the upcoming Miracles From Heaven film, Jennifer Garner, was not able to attend the ceremony but sent a touching message praising his talents and commended his passion for representing Latinos in entertainment.

In his speech, Eugenio continued the theme, showing his gratitude to his fellow Mexicans and Latinos all over the world who have supported him throughout his career.

He said, “Thank you to my people. My Latinos who have supported me, especially for this new adventure in the U.S. An adventure we are all sharing together – the American dream.”

Eugenio is one of his native Mexico’s biggest stars, but only recently moved to Los Angeles to break into Hollywood. He’s appeared in Charlie Sheen’s TV comedy Anger Management, Beverly Hills Chihuahua and The Book of Life, and topped Variety’s Power of Latinos list alongside Sofia Vergara in 2014.

FROM ANOTHER REPORT FOLLOWS:
