DIANNE WILLIAMS-COX – Candidate, Florida House of Representatives District 8

Dianne Williams-Cox is ready to serve as your District 8 Representative!  She ran a robust campaign in the 2014 election cycle while running against the three-term incumbent.  In the 2016 election cycle, Dianne started running early and has made the focus of this grassroots campaign the future of our community and its members.   Constituents have stated some of their priorities are better education for our children, helping to bring more and better jobs to our area and access to quality healthcare.  These will be Dianne’s priorities when elected as your representative.

As an undergraduate of Florida A&M University and MBA graduate of Nova Southeastern University, she possesses the educational background to make sound decisions.  She holds certifications in project management and in public management.  Dianne possesses more than 30 years of professional work experience in the public and private sectors and as a business owner.  Of the thirty years, nineteen were employed as a Computer Programmer, Analyst, Information Technology Manager and Project Manager for several state agencies including the Florida Legislature. Dianne is currently a member of the Tallahassee-Leon County Planning Commission.  She is a small business owner of DWC Management Consulting Services and has provided project management services for Aids Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) at the Florida Department of Health.

A strong advocate for education, Dianne has chaired several School Advisory Councils at Hartsfield Elementary, Fairview Middle School and Rickards High School.  She is a 28-year member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where she is a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir and media ministry.  She is a member of the NAACP, Democratic Women’s Club of Florida, Capital City Democratic Women’s Club, Gadsden Democratic Women’s Club and the Florida Democratic Party. She has served in many capacities on the local and regional levels for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the National Pan Hellenic Council. She has proven that she knows how to build bridges and foster good relationships with people of all backgrounds.

Born and raised in Quincy, Florida, she and her husband of 30 years have raised their sons on the Southside of Tallahassee for 28 years. She is a proud advocate for youth and education as her children and grandchildren have matriculated through the Gadsden and Leon County public school system. The last ten years, she has served as president of Capital Park Baseball Program for 13-14 year olds.  She is the founder and CEO of a non-profit organization Girls Rule! Inc.  The mission is to develop young girls into leaders and civic-minded individuals.  Dianne is vested in the future of District 8 and is ready to work for us.
