Last month before Hurricane Sally hit the Panhandle, I was itching to do something local and fun. So, I decided to indulged myself and do what for me I consider a day trip, I drove about 1and ½ hours to Pensacola. The first stop was at the famous Seafood market “Joe Patti’s”. What I like about Joe Patti’s is their huge variety of Fresh Seafood. Lots of their seafood items are caught right from their boat. My old-time favorite to get there is their Gulf shrimp which are big, delicious, and priced just right. After filling my cooler with Flounder, Grouper, Salmon, Tuna, clams, jumbo bay shrimp, and Royal Red Gulf shrimp, I was hungry.
Since I could not figure out what to feed my hunger the next stop was at “The Garden” on Palafox St., which is a covered open area that houses a few airstream food trucks. The Garden has a Thai, a taco place, a Latin kitchen, and a mac n’ cheese place. I had some tacos and a quesadilla at Calavera which were very tasty and I tried some empanadas and a sandwich at Boca. I also tried the desserts at Boca, we had the tres leches and the flan which were both very good.
Whether you want to dine in or take out, do lunch or dinner The Garden is cute place if you want to experience different choices in one location. As I checked their website the garden is already re-opened. If you plan to go to Joe Pattis please call or check their web page, last time I checked they have not re- open after hurricane Sally.
Wishing all who have been affected by Hurricane Sally a fast recovery. Stay safe & healthy. Until next time…
