Interview with Brazilian immigrants Marta and Marcelo:
By Flavia Mosci
Pastor Marta and Marcelo have been married for 18 years; and have been living
In Destin, FL for about 3 years. They left their home town of Sao Paulo Brazil with a dream of settling in the United States to pursue their biggest dream; the Genesis project.
Flavia: Tell us a little more about this exciting new project.
Marcelo: I wanted to start by explaining that this is not a new church that we are starting to build, this is a project. We are super excited this week because we have just recently found a wonderful church to house our project, this church is called Shoreline.
This wonderful and non-denominational church is located right here in Destin. The mandate of Shorelines church is:” to reawaken the desire for God in our community and restore the Church to front and center relevance in people’s everyday lives.”. The goals of our project Genesis very much align with all that this church stands for. Our project welcomes people from all backgrounds and all religions.
The project itself consists of three major pillars:
- Prayers with local families
- Bible study
- Providing spiritual help those in crisis
Flavia: Is there a bible quote that mostly represents the message in your project?
Marcelo: yes, Lucas 1:37. For God nothing is impossible. Our mission is to introduce the word of God to those who need to come to know Jesus.
Flavia: What has inspired you to pursue this project?
Marcelo: We moved to the United States because we felt we had a calling. Through our work we have witnessed many huge transformations, as the word of God can help people with motivation, faith, healing, union within families, getting through difficult times in life, and we have seen people feel better even when depressed and anxious. After each service, my wife meets individually with the attendees that need a special prayer in their lives. She offers healing prayers and revelations. Many transformations occur even at that moment of prayer.
We have been doing this work since the day we got married and we devote our lives to this.
Flavia: If someone wanted to come to your group, what is the information they need?
Marcelo: We invite all of you who are seeking spiritual help to come to the grand inauguration of our service which will be held July 18, 2021 at 6pm at Shoreline church main room here in Destin FL. Their address is: 140 Palmetto St, Destin, FL 32541
IF you would like more information, please contact us at: (850) 654-4144.
Flavia: thank you so much for sharing this wonderful project with us. I feel this is a great opportunity for the Brazilian community to connect and pray together.
Marcelo: It will be for all: Brazilians, other Latinos, and specially for Americans, we want all the cultures to come together in this beautiful mission. We may be having a person who will be translating the meetings to English each time.
Flavia: This is wonderful, congratulations on your partnership with Shorelines and I look forward to your inauguration day!
