Toyota donates $1 million to support Texas residents affected by historic winter storm

PLANO, Texas, February 25, 2021 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — After winter storm Uri left millions of Texas residents without electricity or water last week, Toyota Motor North America (TMNA), headquartered in North Texas, has pledged a $1 million donation to support victims of the natural phenomenon. The aid will go to both customers and various Texas-based nonprofits.

“We take our role as community leaders seriously, so when winter storms hit millions of people right in our neighborhood, our top priority was to contribute to Texas’ recovery after this adversity,” said Sean Suggs, vice president of TMNA’s Social Innovation Group. “The Texas have supported our company in a thousand ways and we want to help our neighbors get out of this emergency stronger than ever.”

The $1 million aid includes the following efforts:

North Texas/DFW Metroplex

– United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, to support North Texas Cares and west Dallas nonprofits, will quickly distribute funds to community organizations: $450,000

– North Texas food bank: $100,000

– The Family Place and Genesis Women’s Shelter will subsidize hotel rooms, food and transportation for their customers: $30,000

– Toyota employees will be able to support the needs of four storm-affected North Texas community partners by purchasing items from their wish lists on Amazon.

San Antonio

– The San Antonio Aqueduct System (SAWS) Pipeline Repair Fund will help individuals and families stay safe in their homes with plumbing repair funds: $100,000

– Let’s Help SA fund will provide food, water and shelter: $200,000

Houston

– United Way of Greater Houston will support the Greater Houston 2021 Winter Storm Relief Fund that contributes to the repair of local homes: $50,000

– Houston Food Bank: $50,000

– CrowdSource Rescue will provide food, water and fuel: $20,000

Toyota offers all of its employees in the United States support in their personal efforts to recover unexpected catastrophic events. In addition, Toyota will match up to $10,000 in individual employee contributions to nonprofits recovering from the storm.

Toyota Financial Services (TFS) announced that it is offering payment relief options to customers affected by storms. This extensive support program includes any Toyota Financial Services (TFS) or Lexus Financial Services (LFS) customer in disaster-declared areas. Leasing and financing clients who live in the affected areas and were affected may choose to benefit from several payment relief options, including:

– extensions and deferred payments of financial leases,

– redirection of billing statements

– concertation of payments by phone or online
