Event will raise awareness and funds to benefit Floridians impacted by epilepsy

The Epilepsy Foundation of Florida (EFOF) will host the annual Walk the Talk for Epilepsy at the Blue Wahoos Stadium, 351 W Cedar St. in Pensacola on Saturday, April 8, 2017, raising awareness and funds to benefit Floridians impacted by epilepsy. Registration will open at 8 a.m., with the walk following at 9 a.m.

“We’re excited to hold our annual Walk the Talk event inside the Blue Wahoos Stadium,” said Karen Basha-Egozi, CEO of the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida. “We expect hundreds of families to lace up their sneakers and enjoy the many activities on hand, while also raising much-needed funding to serve those affected by epilepsy in the area.”

Walk the Talk for Epilepsy events throughout the state benefit the more than 400,000 Floridians living with epilepsy. The Pensacola walk will feature family-friendly entertainment for children and adults, including: Zumba with Jana and Debby, Face paint by the local Alpha Delta Pi’s, Smoothies brought to you from the Molina Health care center, characters, and so much more!

Now through April 6, the cost is $25 for adults and $15 for children; and day-of registration is $35 for adults and $20 for children.

Sponsors for this year’s event include: MCH, Sunovion, Liva Nova, Whataburger, lundbeck, Sheriff Morgan, and Wind Creek.

This will be one of eight walks hosted by EFOF taking place in cities across the state through May 20. Other cities hosting walk the Talk events are: Gainesville, Naples, Daytona, West Palm Beach, Miami, Broward and Jacksonville.

“I wish to thank everyone who participates in the Walk the Talk for Epilepsy events,” said Basha-Egozi.  From sponsors to vendors to walkers, everyone plays a vital role in helping to make lives easier and more productive for individuals and families affected by epilepsy.”

Epilepsy is a common neurological condition that 1 in 26 people will be diagnosed with at some point in their lives. The diagnosis is given when a person experiences two or more seizures that cannot be attributed to another cause. It is a disorder more people live with than autism, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsy – combined.
