¡Ya llego la Navidad! Christmas is here!  One year ago we launched Conexión and I know for a fact it has had a big impact in our area.  My good friend and co-founder of Conexión and I, started this one by pledging to ensure that we continued the work that some of us did, while managing La Voz del Latino from 2005 – 2007.  La Voz del Latino, at that time, was the first ever Hispanic publication in our NW Florida area, it was successful and indeed became the “voice” of the Latinos in our area.

With the collaboration of several individuals who were part of La Voz, including Marcos Otero, who has been HUGELY instrumental to our success, one of our objectives is to become that “voice” once again.

I thank Marcos for the informative articles in our Health section and especially for the numerous hours he has put into creating and managing our first year of the awesome website we have!  If you have not seen our website, I invite you check it out.  If you ever need some expert medical assistance, go see Marcos at Gulf Coast Immediate Care Center in Fort Walton Beach!

Additionally, the professional work of John Gorman in Graphic and Layout Design is incomparable.  John just “makes it happen” I can assure you.  Many a times I have hit John with last second design work and also with changes or edits and he just calmly and professionally “makes it happen!”  His company is Woodpecker Designs and I highly recommend him.  John is a main reason that Conexión can offer top quality ads and layout design while allowing us to keep our advertising rates at a very cost effective level!

Our collaborators are many and thus I do not have room to name them all, but I hope I have not failed to “thank them” regularly, bottom line, without them, we could not do this!  Each and every one of them is important to making Conexión happen each month and I especially thank those that have become the regular monthly contributors for the sections that you see each month.

Conexión means “connection”, and we created it to UNITE individuals of different backgrounds, origins, Hispanic and Non-Hispanic alike to “guide, serve, and inform” our readers.  To put together generous, professional, caring, and positive minded individuals interested in putting out a quality product that meet those three objectives.

Conexión means “Networking” and this is why you see regular events under the “Hispanics and Friends Linked (HFL)”, our networking arm.  We have had successful HFLs from Tallahassee to Pensacola.  There are two ads in this edition for upcoming ones, come over and hang out with us!

Most importantly, to us, is that Conexión is focused on serving our community.  This is why we lead, support or sponsor events throughout our area, yes we sponsor Festivals, we help small businesses and individuals to “get the word out”, but we are most proud to sponsor charitable events, those that will serve the needy, the disabled, etc.  You got something like that coming up?  Give us a call and let’s chat about how we can help you!

To our current advertisers, especially those that have stuck with us for most of our one year in service, MIL GRACIAS, it costs a good amount of money to produce Conexión and make it free to the public.  Without our advertisers, impossible!  To them and for our future customers we assure you, you will continue to get a lot more for your “advertising buck” than just a great ad, because wherever Conexión, whether leading or participating in events throughout our huge distribution area, in social media, networking as members of the two largest Chambers of Commerce in North/NW Florida, “you, our advertisers are there with us!”

A special thanks to my good friend, the co-owner of Conexión, Mr. Donald Whitney, one thing is for sure, Conexión would not exist, if Don had not told me, “I prayed about this and I want us to launch Conexión, so that we can serve the Hispanic community and community at large.”

All of us in Conexión will continue to work tirelessly to be the BRIDGE for businesses, for non-profits, for service agencies and for all that want to reach that growing Hispanic community in North, NW Florida and SE Alabama!  But, we are and will be more than just for Hispanics, we want to reach all races, ethnicities or creeds with quality content….informing and uniting Communities!

For 2016, Conexión has some great plans, we will announce them in our January edition.

For now, to everyone a very MERRY, MERRY CHRISTMAS y Que Dios les Bendiga!
